Yin & BodyWork

100 Hours / 2 Weeks

Throughout our lives and days, we are constantly exposed to our basic need for touch, and for most of it, we do not notice that we are almost always physically responding to it in one way or another. What we do realise when we pay attention, is that how we touch is as important as how we are touched, and its quality affects our mood and changes how our entire nervous system is responding.

Bodywork modalities are ancient and have their unique variations in most ancient healing traditions. What we perhaps forgot in our day-to-day stressful lives, is that these modalities are not a luxury but rather a necessity. There are a lot of fascinating studies and research that show how intentional touch and bodywork heal us all the way down to a cellular level. What is even more mind-blowing, is that it heals not just the receiver, but also, the giver!

With its long-held still poses, the yin yoga practice invites a state of presence and surrender and hence offers the perfect mediative space for this experience of blending yin yoga with bodywork.

Why Yin Yoga and Bodywork are complimentary?

For practitioners of yin yoga, giving or receiving bodywork can help to release tension and discomfort in the body, have a deeper understanding of your own energetic body, and relax through therapeutic and dynamic movement and stretching.

For a yoga teacher, learning Thai Yoga Massage can enhance your ability to see and feel the body in a whole new way, increase your ability to sequence intelligently, and assist you in making confident adjustments in your class.

And lastly, literally being ‘in touch’ with your students offers solid support and creates beautiful connections.

Our Yin & Bodywork teacher training program shows you how to use yin yoga combined with techniques of Thai Yoga Massage & Bodywork as a therapeutic tool for promoting physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

Due to physical or emotional trauma, bad posture, injuries or limiting belief systems energy can get trapped or blocked, causing physical and emotional dis-ease. Bodywork with its amazing multitude of techniques and adjustments can release these blockages and bring the body back to its natural equilibrium where perfect balance and well-being are present.

    Learning Thai Yoga Massage

Thai massage is the most versatile modality – needs no oils, no spa setups, can be done in a park, beach or on the floor, and can still go so deep in its effects and benefits. Thai Yoga Massage comes from the vast depths of Thai medicine, which actually finds its roots in the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda.

In this training you will learn:
    • Sequence in different positions – supine, prone, sitting. Which meridians get engaged in each stretch and which elements come into play
    • Head, face, feet, hands – savasana massage
    • Designing specific stretches for different intended outcomes – stretches to balance a specific Taoist element or working on a specific meridians and their energetic expressions

Benefits of Thai yoga Massage for receiver:
    • Encourages deep relaxation which aids in meditation
    • Balances blood pressure and heart rate
    • Activates the brain to chemically release natural opiates
    • Can lead to reduced anxiety levels, tension, sadness as well as diminished pain
    • Synchronizes brain waves to restore the normal vibratory frequencies of cells
    • Aligns, awakens, and balances the subtle energies in the body

This unique modality helps you to see how Thai massage and Bodywork is not just blissful, therapeutic and beneficial for the reciever, but when done with the correct techniques, it brings the same benefits to the giver!  This is a heart-centred practice that’s shared from a place of presence and loving-kindness (metta).

The giver of Thai yoga massage also will receive generosity, compassion, equanimity, the feeling of oneness, the feeling of loving-kindness, and the pride that can only be felt by a healer.

How learning Thai Yoga Massage and BodyWork enhances your yoga teaching practice?

Massage and Yoga are known to be a potent complementary combination:

    • In 2 weeks course, you can learn how to give a complete 90-minute massage that addresses feet, legs, hips, abdomen hands shoulders, back, neck and head.
    • These elements can be practiced both as an independent practice of being a masseur or integrating it with a Yin yoga class as you complement it with touch and bodywork.
    • Gives you a niche over a normal yoga teaching regime.
    • It makes you understand therapeutics and anatomy better.
    • The stretches in Thai Massage can be practised also as yoga asana adjustments.
    • It will be highly appreciated by your current students to produce amazing feedback drawing more people to your classes.
    • Becoming a powerful new offering in your practice – it will be an additional source of income to support your journey.

    Yin Yoga Foundations

While yin yoga is a wonderful practice by itself, in combination with bodywork applied you can transform the practice in a multi-sensory experience.

For a solid foundation for your practice and teaching, Jenny will introduce you to the practice of yin yoga according to the principles and components, following the foundations laid out originally by Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers, and Bernie Clark. The consideration of an individual skeletal structure, functional alignment, and working with ‘yin tissue’ to not only stretch but also strengthen them and requires quite some ‘know-how’ to dive into.

You will learn how to address the physical benefits, safe ways of guiding into poses and intelligent sequencing principles according to anatomical requirements and energetic aspects. In yin yoga we work with the ancient healing wisdom of the Taoist philosophy, the meridians and the chi flow in the body. You will get to know all the main meridians, and different ways to activate and address them in the yin yoga practice.

Transforming a yin yoga class into a in yoga healing experience needs skill and practice, so there will be the opportunity to practice teaching yourself. Mindfulness principles provide insight and guidance for the practice. Learn how to integrate mindfulness, connecting our body to a Zen state of mind to create the space to allow energetic and physical healing to take place.
