Take a leap
Take a deep breath, close your eyes and imagine how amazing it would feel to have accomplished your wildest dreams. Maybe you are traveling the world. Perhaps you are a full time yoga teacher. Or maybe you are living in your dream home surrounded by your spouse and kids.
No matter what comes to your mind I bet it feels pretty incredible. But maybe there is also a little voice of doubt in the back of your mind? That little voice that says it is never going to happen. It could also be fear that is present. Fear of what others will think. Fear of failing.
I am here to tell you that your dreams can come true. Whatever it is that keeps you awake at night, that sets your soul on fire and what you daydream about on your way to work can come true.
But it is not going to happen just like that. You have to meet the Universe halfway there. So let us take a look at how to accomplish your goals and dreams.
Set goals and write them down
What are your goals? Travel more? Work less? Make more money? Start your own business? Do a yoga teacher training? What is it you want to accomplish this year? Be as specific as possible – e.g. make €100,000 in 2021 as opposed to make more money, do yin yoga 3 x week instead of do more yin yoga, take one day a week off as opposed to take more time off, go to Bali as opposed to travel the world …). The more specific you can be, the better. Then write them down so you can visually see your goals in front of you.
Create a vision board
This is the fun part! Get your card board, scissors, glue, glitter and colorful pencils and get creative. Print out images that embody your goals. It can be anything and everything as long as it makes you think of and connect to your goals when you see the images. Put the vision board somewhere where you will see it every day. The mind understands words and the body understands pictures so it is important that you see your goals.
As mentioned the body understands images so go even deeper into this by visualizing your goals and dreams. Visualize what it is you want. You can do it in meditation, while riding the train or bus, while on the toilet, before going to sleep, before getting up in the morning, while waiting for your coffee to brew … Do it as often as you possibly can.
Get to work
This is the part where most people struggle. Writing down lists, creating a vision board and visualizing are all fairly easy and mostly also fun to do. However, sitting down and doing the actual work is where most people start coming up with all sorts of excuses. Let’s watch Netflix, do laundry, go out for a drink with friends, go to brunch, read another book about starting a business, scroll through Instagram … We all do this sometimes.
But in order for this to work you actually have to, well, work. There is no shortcut. There is no secret ingredient. There is no magic wand. You just have to stay the course and put in the work. When you fall down, get rejected, fail and feel stuck, you get back up, dust yourself off and get back to work.
Surrender and trust the Universe
As always it is a balance. Do not work yourself into the ground and forget to rest. Do not burn the candle at both ends. Once you have put in the work, surrender. Trust that you have done your part and that the Universe will do its part too (remember what I said earlier; you only have to meet the Universe halfway there). It is always a balance between effort and surrender.
These are my tools for how I manifest my goals and dreams. And remember; believe in yourself. Believe you can accomplish anything, and that all your dreams and desires can come true. I believe in you!
